Issue Details

I have the LabVIEW Datalogging and Supervisory Control (DSC) Module or LabVIEW Real-Time Module installed and activated. I am creating a new I/O Server in my LabVIEW Project, but no I/O server types are showing up as options to add.

Solution

  • This can occur if there are NI services that are not running on your computer.
  1. Press Windows+R to open the Windows Run tool and enter services.msc.
  2. In the Services window, make sure that the following services are running:
    • NI Configuration Manager
    • NI PSP Service Locator
    • NI Variable Engine
  3. Start any of the above services that are not running. See the Additional Information section below if you are unable to start these services.
  4. Completely close LabVIEW and then open it again. Try to add a new I/O server to ensure that the I/O server options are showing.
  • If the steps above don't solve the issue, there might be an NI MAX Database Corruption Error. Reset the NI MAX Database following this article and then reboot the PC. Now the I/O server options should show.
  • If the project is developed on another computer, make sure you use a LabVIEW 32-bit environment to open the project. LabVIEW DSC Module does not support LabVIEW 64-bit environment.
